Several successful candidates in Paris, Lyon and Geneva conservatoires and two international First prizes

Aged only 16, Mathis CATHIGNOL has just gained a place at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon. Having been offered a place on the waiting-list of the Paris Conservatoire in February, Mathis decided to attempt Lyon with a very short preparation time. Now that the Paris place is confirmed, Mathis finds himself in the enviable position of making his own choice between the two conservatoires. He has finally decided to study at the Paris Conservatoire next September. Mathis joined Piano Cantabile three years ago, after studying with Michel LEDUC at the Aix conservatoire.

Julia SPINOZI-GUIGUEN also entered the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM) in February. Julia, who studies at the Regional Paris conservatoire (CNR) with Jérôme GRANJON, attended an intensive preparation course at Piano Cantabile in January.

Two weeks ago Léo PENSEL was offered a place at the Geneva Conservatoire. Léo has attended three Piano Cantabile courses and is studying with Rena SHERESHEVSKAYA at the Reuil regional conservatoire. Natacha MELKONIAN, pupil of Laure RIVIERRE at the Pole Supérieur de Dijon and a frequent Piano Cantabile course participant, has also entered the Geneva Conservatoire to do a masters degree. They will both be studying with Cédric PESCIA from next September.

As for competitions, two Piano Cantabile students won prestigious prizes in the Brest International Piano Competition in February: Gaspard THOMAS was awarded First Prize in the Chopin programme and Alexander LORY won First Prize in the Liszt programme.
