In early August, Oliver won first prize at the Oregio International Competition (Germany) in the under-18 category. Just a few weeks earlier, he was awarded first prize at the Szafarnia International Chopin Competition in Poland, along with no fewer than four special prizes.
In the meantime, he was selected among the top five musicians and was the leading pianist in the BBC’s famous “Young Musician of the Year” competition.
Finally, this week, at just 16 years of age, he won 4th prize at the prestigious Ettlingen International Competition in the under-23 category. The youngest among the 85 pianists from all over the world, he was also awarded the “European Union of Music Competitions for Youth” special prize.
Oliver, who studies in Glasgow with Aaron Shorr at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, has also been attending Piano Cantabile masterclasses as regularly as possible for over two years.
