August 2026: First and third prizes awarded to two of our pianists at the Chopin-Pleyel International Competition in Nohant

Following Oliver Hak’s numerous successes earlier this month, Raphaël Collard has just won first prize in the inaugural edition of the Chopin-Pleyel Competition. He was also awarded the special prize for the best performance of a sonata.

In the same competition, Mathis Cathignol won third prize, along with the special prize for the best performance of a polonaise.

20-year-old Raphaël Collard recently concluded his bachelor’s degree at the Paris Conservatoire, studying with Claire Désert and Romano Pallottini. He joined Piano Cantabile in October 2025.

Mathis Cathignol has been supported by Piano Cantabile for 12 years. In addition to this recent success, he won second prize at the Samson François competition in early July.
